A few perspectives

ok so I have a some perspectives for you to see. only 3 completed (not including annotation...im not a machine) and the remaining 5 are in varying stages of development.

I quite like them, slightly rough around the edges (not in an incomplete way though) which I prefer to the slightly clinical, tidiness that you can get when modelling perspectives from sketchup models.

They have been devastatingly time consuming but now I have most of the plant templates made up copy-paste is making each image faster

yes I know some of my colours are off (the red especially) but its starting to grow on me, it makes the image a bit punchier..

I will upload the rest with full annotations later / early tomorrow.

Technology - the illusion of efficiency

Well ive spent a solid day redoing the 1:50 sections. That's right - A DAY!!!

Photoshop introduces a level of complexity that undermines the efficiency of copy-paste. I suppose ive known this for years but I hoped I would have been more proficient at this stage than I appear to be. Maybe if I spent less time faffing with blur effects and individualising my trees ....well you get the point.

Done now and I think they have come out alright..

(these are not spell checked yet)

perspectives to come...

Lets wipe the dust off this blog

Yes its been a LONG while since ive posted here and as im getting towards the end of this degree I think its time I post my progress.

Im going to start at the end, with the 1:50 phase of the master plan and I will gradually upload the 1:200 and 1:500 and so on with all the originals and updated work so you can see how ive adjusted and improved each phase.

Plan

Started with the 1/3 render quickly realised the colours looked a bit off but ploughed ahead anyways.
Printing showed the real problems - dark and muddy - stood off the wall yes but there was no real stand out features when the trees should have really popped. Annotation was rather poor and didn't quite convey what I really wanted to say but it never does - annotation is my Achilles heel

Fully rendered and annotated - now with a key!!!
colours look more natural and a lot lighter I still need to lighten some areas and try to make the trees stand out a bit more, especially the eucalyptus but im but those are just a few small details that I fine tune later

Night time
I have come to realise that I didn't really need to do a night render of the area at 1-50, oh well its done now.

Lighting plan
didn't fit on hardworks plan without making it look overly cluttered

Hardworks Plan
not much to say here really, it is what it is... grey!

Softworks Plan
This has probably seen the biggest investment of my time than nearly all the above sections combined- started off with hundred and hundreds of circles and was all very confusing until I decided to put a lasso around some of the large areas of planting - definitely help clean the page up.

I will upload the section and perspectives later when im happy with the annotation

Read the Brief!!!

Dynamic composition was the name of the brief. This is what I came up with

BACKGROUND SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHITE - about the only problem I can see with the composition

Overlapping of the images and shapes give a sense of depth while the shapes give a sense of perceived movement and energy.

Colours, shapes and background go beyond what the brief was asking but add extra style to the composition.

Image with a white background - doesn't seem quite as interesting...

As they say in hollywood....

...time to reboot this story!!
